What is Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT)?

Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) focuses on addressing the root causes of TMJ discomfort by using precision techniques to release muscle tension and improve joint function. This therapy is designed to bring relief to those experiencing jaw pain, headaches, or facial tension. By promoting better alignment and enhancing muscle flexibility, it aims to restore comfort and ease to your everyday activities.

TMJ Therapy

Chronic TMJ dysfunction can show up as jaw pain, clicking, headaches, neck tightness, ear pressure, tinitus, and even disrupted sleep. If you’ve been clenching, grinding, or carrying stress in your jaw, this session was made for you. TMJ therapy is a specialized, therapeutic approach that works both the external muscles of the jaw, head, and neck, and the often-neglected internal structures that drive dysfunction. It’s precise, intentional work–and for the right client, genuinely life-changing.

Relief clients experience includes: Reduced jaw pain and tension, Decreased headache frequency, Improved range of motion in the jaw, Less neck and shoulder tightness connected to jaw dysfunction, and Better sleep for those who clench or grind.

TMJ work is deeply therapeutic, but it’s still delivered with the same gentle, intentional touch that defines every session in this space.

What to Expect?

Your PNMT for TMJ Experience

Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) is different from other forms of massage.  Before we begin, I'll take time to listen--because understanding your history is just as important as the hands-on work.  The more you can share, the better: What triggers your symptoms?  What brings relief?  Where do you feel it, and how often?  From there, I'll do a brief physical assessment, checking your range of motion and looking for any structural patterns that may be contributing to your discomfort.  Every detail helps me tailor the session specifically for you.

During the hands-on portion of your session, you'll settle onto the massage table while I perform targeted therapeutic work both inside the mouth and along the muscles of the face, neck, and head.  This isn't general massage--it's precise, intentional work focused specifically on the muscles contributing to your pain.  I'll move at a pace that feels right for you, always working within your comfort level and with your nervous system in mind.

Your feedback during the session isn't just welcome--it's essential because I'm unable to feel what you feel.  Something as small as a slight shift in pressure or direction can make all the difference between a technique that helps and one that misses the mark entirely.

What I'm looking for is that unmistakable moment when you say--"that's exactly it."  Not pressure that's barely tolerable, but the deeply satisfying feeling of finally having someone find the spot you've been carrying for weeks, months, maybe longer.  It's often as much of a reilef emotionally as it is physically.

If something feels off-target or unproductive at any point, please speak up.  Redirecting me is never an interruption--it's how we get you the best possible outcome.

PNMT is a Process

TMJ dysfunction is rarely a one-session fix.  Muscles that have been holding tension for months or longer need time and consistency to release and retrain.

For most clients, I recommend starting with two sessions per week for two weeks.  This initial phase is where we do the deepest work--identifying and addressing the primary muscles driving your discomfort, then uncovering the secondary players that are often part of the picture too.  From there, we move to weekly sessions to stay ahead of your pain for as long as your symptoms persist.

Once you're feeling better and progress holds, we'll space things out into a maintenance rhythm--and you get to decide what that looks like for you.

How will you know it's working?  You'll notice it in your daily life--less tension in the morning, fewer headaches, easier movement in your jaw.
